Starting Point

I am bipolar and gained 70lbs due to meds in a year. The key for me in this is to remember to be patient with myself. This didn't happen overnight. I'm just starting my weightless journey but the thing I am relying on is building a routine. I know with having bipolar that seems impossible but it can happen! I haven't fully figured out my routine yet but I'm probably going to do mine in the morning or right after I come home from work. If I link it to something else I do already I have more success. Like I drink coffee in the morning then work out. If I link being active with drinking coffee I'm more likely to do it.

I'm apprehensive about starting the program as I am just coming out of a 5 month severe depressive episode and a hospitalization. I question if I'm starting this too soon but if I can start linking things even if I don't do a full work out but put on work out close in the morning after coffee it is a start. I'm all about breaking things down into smaller steps and just seeing how many steps I did even if I don't finish them all. Celebrate each step. That's what has helped me be successful.

Takeaways:

  • Break things down into smaller steps to make it more manageable

  • Celebrate each step even if the whole task was not completed

  • Link new things to something that you already do to help make it a habit
